What a construction daily report should include
- Project name, job address, date and report number on every page
- Weather: conditions, temperature, precipitation — and whether it stopped work
- Every company and trade on site, headcount and hours (this is your proof of manpower)
- Work completed, by area, in measurable terms ("set 6 base cabinets", not "cabinets")
- Equipment and materials delivered, with supplier ticket numbers
- Delays and who caused them: weather, inspections, other trades, owner decisions
- Any extra work the client asked for — flag it for a change order the same day
- Safety: toolbox talk topic, incidents, near misses
- Visitors and inspections, with times
- Dated photos tied to the work they show
- Plan for tomorrow
- Signature of the person who wrote it (and the client's, if your contract asks for it)

Or do it on your phone in two minutes
Construction Daily Report App is an iPhone app that fills in this same document and sends the PDF.
- Crew, hours and weather in a few taps
- Photos dated and placed in the report
- PDF to the client before you leave the site

Questions
What is a construction daily report?
A one- or two-page record of a single day on the jobsite: who was there, how many hours they worked, the weather, the work completed, deliveries, delays and safety. Superintendents and foremen write it at the end of each day; it becomes evidence if a schedule, payment or delay dispute comes up later.
Who should fill out the daily report?
Whoever runs the crew that day — usually the superintendent on a GC job or the foreman on a subcontractor crew. It should be written before leaving the site, while details and headcounts are still accurate.
How long should I keep daily reports?
Keep them at least as long as your contract's warranty and claims period — commonly several years after completion. Check your contract and local law; a PDF copy in cloud storage costs nothing.
Daily report vs. daily log — what's the difference?
In practice the terms are used interchangeably. Some firms call the short internal notes a log and the client-facing signed document a report. This template works for both.
Is this template free to use?
Yes. Download the PDF, Word or Excel version without signing up, edit it and use it on any project.
