Questions

Estimate vs. quote vs. bid?

Often used interchangeably. Strictly, an estimate is an approximate price, a quote is a fixed price, and a bid is a price submitted to compete for a job. Write 'valid until' and 'changes by change order' on any of them.

How long should an estimate be valid?

30 days is common; shorter when material prices move fast.

Should I charge tax on labor?

It depends on the state and the type of work. Check your state's rules; this template lets you apply tax to materials only or to the whole total.

Can I turn the estimate into an invoice?

Yes — keep the same line items and add the invoice number, due date and payment details. The app does it in one tap.

Is this estimate template free?

Yes — PDF, Word and Excel, no sign-up.
